Skern Lodge has been supporting the training of Solent University pupils for over 15 years.
Solent University is based in Southampton, with approximately 10,000 students. Degrees are offered in Business, Law and Digital Technologies, Creative Industries, Architecture and Engineering, Sport, Health and Social Science, and Maritime. The university has a significant focus on vocational courses and offers practical, hands-on learning for their students.
Solent University has a long-standing relationship with Skern Lodge and has been bringing their students on annual trips away to our flagship site in Devon for over 15 years. We support students studying Outdoor and Adventure Management and Sports Management degrees to put their theoretical learning into practice and discover their strengths, as well as areas that have room for development.
At Skern Lodge, we create unique and specific programmes for each group attending our site based on the information provided by their Course Leader. This way, we can ensure the best learning experience for the students.
Clair Backhouse, Associate Lecturer at Solent University, said: “I have been very impressed by the degree of attention given to clients. I feel the needs of my students are listened to and well understood. It was particularly appreciated when their staff were able to engage remotely with my students during lockdown.”
My predecessor and line manager have always felt that the students get an excellent experience that is tailored well to their needs. The centre is geographically in a good location and has experienced, educated staff who are able to combine practice with theory.”
During the height of the pandemic, we altered our work with our universities to ensure that the students weren’t disadvantaged by the situation and could continue their learning in a virtually interactive environment. We are pleased that they have since been able to return to Devon for their annual trip!
Our team at Skern Lodge love what they do and are ready to help you. If you have students or apprentices that you feel would benefit from an action-packed trip of fun-filled learning and development, pop us an email at email@example.com or connect with Kate O’Callaghan on LinkedIn.
